YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! (Just so we’re clear about the title, I would finish that by reciting the rest of the first verse on Go Crazy by Young Jeezy. You too? Okay cool.) I know it’s been a while but I’ve been running around like a chicken with the head cut off these past 2 months. Between Under Armour, physical therapy, studying for NASM, and my nephew, I’m sure that I am sleep deprived. I’m probably sleeping as you’re reading this.
BUT, it don’t even matter though! ‘Cause guess what? I’m. Going. Back. To. The. Mats. I had my post 6 weeks follow up appointment with my orthopedic doctor on Thursday. He did his normal valgus stress test on my knee and said my MCL seems stable! Stable enough for me to start back light training and light impact activities (i.e. running, jumping, etc.) Once I finish my physical therapy, I should be back to 100% normal.
I feel like I’ve been waiting on this for a whole year! It’s been 4 months and I’m kind of irritated that it’s even been that long; it could’ve been worse though so 🙏🏾. I know I’ll start out slow anyway just to mentally get over any reservations I have. I don’t expect to be at full speed and agility until around late March – mid April. I’m fine with that as long as I get back up to my levels and get back competing. I’ve already set goals for jiujitsu competitions, judo competitions and powerlifting competitions for 2018. So this is exactly what I wanted to hear! I can start building back up my leg strength and speed so that I’ll be ready by the time the season is fully in swing.
I’m super excited just to be able to go back and do what makes me happy. ANNNDD I’ll finally have more inspiration to blog about the stuff that I’m doing/ working on since I’ll actually be doing it! I’m probably going to do a post about my recovery exercises and the progressions that I’ve gone through week to week as well as the accessory work that I do for my sports. And probably just some workout/nutrition stuff in general. All things. Everything. YouTube coming soon 👀!
Ugh! I’m so happy! (I know my coaches are too) I knew March was going to be the month. Tomorrow will be my first night officially back in judo practice.
Song choice: Without Me – Eminem (literally the song I was thinking of in the doctor’s office)
